Gary writes and speaks from three decades of helping hurting people heal and grow. He has served as a campus minister, a missionary in Japan, and a pastor in Texas and Washington. He now serves as a chaplain and grief counselor with Hospice Brazos Valley in central Texas.

He is the author of seven books, including the newly released Teen Grief: Caring for the Grieving Teenage Heart, and the award-winning bestsellers Shattered: Surviving the Loss of a Child, Please Be Patient, I’m Grieving, Heartbroken: Healing from the Loss of a Spouse, and Surviving the Holidays Without You.

Gary has more than 500 grief-related articles in print and is a popular speaker in a variety of venues. He loves being a husband and father, and enjoys corny jokes and cool Hawaiian shirts.
